The Fine Arts Department of Columbia City High School provides a quality and diverse fine arts curriculum for every student. Within this curriculum, we will strive to immerse our students in a variety of opportunities to study, appreciate and explore artistic endeavors. We will strive to advance their visual and technical skills so that every student will be able to critique their own work and those of others. The curriculum will also prepare our students for careers in art, give them an avenue for self expression and conscious consumers of art.
The Fine Arts Department will accomplish these goals through sequentially structured lessons building upon the knowledge and skills of the previous lessons. We will challenge, nurture, be supportive and encourage our students. The Fine Arts department will demonstrate and teach by example while instructing to each individuals learning style. Lesson criteria will be used for evaluation and self-assessment.
